MORE ON PHOLUS

I know this is specific to me but of course i can’t correlate information for the whole world as I don’t know everyone’s details. However I did find this interesting and thought some one else might too.

I was born on August 30th the same day that Pholus was discovered.

There is more news from the border of the Solar System: so far 11 trans-Neptunians (Table 2) and a further 16 trans-Plutonians (Table 1) have been brought to light (as at: October 1995) since the spectacular discovery of a trans-Plutonian miniplanet by Jewitt and Luu with the Mauna Kea Telescope at Hilo, Hawaii on August 30, 1992 (3; click here for the discovery chart of 1992 QB1). Its provisonal designation is “1992 QB1” (2). The discoveries of all this planets partly confirm the theory promulgated by the Dutch-American astronomer Gerard Kuiper (12/7/1905-12/23/1973) in 1951 (4). He assumed that a ring of comet-like matter, so-called Planetesimals, could exist beyond Neptune, which was left when the planets formed over 4 billion years ago. The existence of such a “Kuiper-belt” or “Kuiper-disk” (surrounding the whole Solar System) would explain the partly unknown origin of many comets: through collisions and orbit disturbances (caused by Neptune’s gravity) within the belt isolated fragments would reach the interior of the Solar System as comets or unusual minor planets on more or less eccentric and unstable orbits. According to spectral analysis the currently known 28 Kuiper-belt objects do NOT seem to be comets, but they nonetheless belong to the Kuiper-belt. When comparing their spectra with other minor planets, moons and asteroids within the Solar System no conformity was to be found. So the new planets obviously form a new independent group of minor planets, nicknamed the “icy dwarfs”, which are of course of great interest to astronomers. Scientists are hoping, among other things, to gain important information about the structure of the Kuiper-belt and the dynamics of the outer Solar System from their research.

Characteristics one can have with a prominent Pholus

A person with a prominent natal Pholus is in his actions guided by impulses whose motivation he is not really aware of. Actually, he is confronted with energies or parts of his nature that are not incarnated, i.e. that hang over or about him like a cloud (Neptune, the aphelion of Pholus) and urge towards incarnation (Saturn, Pholus´ perihelion) within the material world. In other words: Pholus stands for parts of our nature from which we are still cut off and with which we try to get into contact. The parts in question may be those which cannot be soundly unfolded, or on the other hand a domain where the person intently strives for and with time even reaches great progresses. A combination of Pholus and Mercury, for example, can indicate highest precision and almost magic power of a person´s mercurial abilities, or on the contrary legastheny and dyscalculia.

Pholic impulses are blind in a sense. They press on being realized even if they do not “know”, what could be their appropriate place in the actual order of life. On the contrary, they are in conflict with the established conditions. The person in question may feel impelled to actions, motions or gestures that give rise to disastrous life situations. So, Pholus finds himself in a strain between self-destruction and enlargement of his own character by additional energies or horizons of experience. The pholic person walks on the narrow path of great and seemingly easy success, with the risk of catastrophic slips. Whatever happens, afterwarts the person is altered. He has broken with his past, has stripped off an old skin (Greek pholis means “squama” or “skin”), has got over a rocky edge and unexpectedly attained a wonderful tableland, or else is stumbled over it into a precipice.

Instead of blindness, Pholus sometimes gives visionary power. In the myth he is a haruspex, i.e. he reads from the entrails of offered animals. People with Pholus at the IC are often very inspired, sometimes spiritual channels or fortune-tellers or work with the pendulum. But in the myths, the seer is often blind. It is not easy to dream the future and, at the same time, actually realize the present circumstances.

Pholus intensifies the natal factor affected by him in a way that we are impelled to unusual and often thoughtless actions in the domain in question. Frequently one feels a kind of “goaded on” and under a hardly sustainable permanent strain.
An underdeveloped facet of the affected part of our personality suddenly appears. On the one hand, this often gives us a spontaneous insight into our deficiencies in the domain concerned. On the other hand, it drives us even more towards a change.
The participants often felt a wish of riddance. The old and hitherto sheltering way of life becomes too “limited” and is stripped off without much effort and sometimes even “accidentally” (cf. pholis, squama”. A skinning effect). Some persons characterized this process as an “awakening” of new energies, capabilities and insights, often accompanied by a strong enthusiasm.
Pholus seems to launch us again and again into unexpected frontier situations, where we feel demanded too much and eventually exceed the bounds of our possibilities. In these periods of transition from a suddenly lost security (Saturn) we find ourselves helplessly exposed to and confronted with the neu haziness (Neptune). In this situation we run great risk of calamitous misreactions (self-sabotage, accidents; cf. Pholus death in the myth). On the other hand, this “wobbly” state may give rise to a positive new beginning that leads into a richer and intenser life. In both cases there is a tendency, that the subconsciousness determines the “course”.

Almost all Pholus transits mark more or less important turning-points in life.

Spiritual Aspects Related to the North Node

Node and South Node)suggests that we all come into this world with some underdeveloped and overdeveloped aspects of our character. The Nodes of the Moon point us to these specific qualities: the South Node suggests our overdeveloped character traits that are easy for us to north-south-lunar-node-astrologyfall back on, but that may undermine our lives if we hold on to these traits for security; while the North Node suggests the qualities that we need to develop in order to find inner balance.

The North Node and South Node points are directly opposite each other. They are not planetary bodies; rather, they are points that take into account the relationship between the Sun, Moon, and Earth at the time of our birth.

The Nodes of the Moon suggest personal karmic imbalance. Thus, consciously working on these “life lessons” can bring us to increased happiness and fulfillment. If we over-emphasize and fall back on the qualities of our South Node, at the expense of developing our North Node, we may have a difficult time feeling personally successful.

Whether or not we consciously work on these lessons, events in our lives are likely to force us to confront them. In my experience, people often begin to confront and work on their North Node lessons in their thirties, whether or not they are aware of the issues through Astrology. Before this stage of our lives, we may be somewhat blind to our South Node tendencies.

Fear is associated with South Node issues. The South Node position is very often a point of great insecurity. We very much want what is represented by the South Node position, whether that is order in our lives (South Node in Virgo/6th house) or satisfaction in partnerships (South Node in Libra/7th house). However, the only way we can feel successful in these areas is through working on the qualities of the opposite sign (North Node position). We may resist doing this quite fervently, especially in the first 30 years of our lives, partly because we cannot see that letting go of some of our obsessions, and working on the polarity, will bring satisfaction to the South Node areas. Thus, the North Node represents a point of challenge and growth. One feels somewhat awkward and uncertain in the areas represented by the North Node (its sign and house). The North Node can also be considered a point of inflow. We need help with our North Node issues, and we often meet people who will help us confront these issues.

The upcoming Solar Eclipse in Aquarius 2018

The Sabian symbol I have listed below could not be more pertinent in my life right now. How about yours?

PHASE 328 (AQUARIUS 28°): A TREE FELLED AND SAWED TO ENSURE A SUPPLY OF WOOD FOR THE WINTER.

KEYNOTE: Knowledge and skill used in its natural surroundings for the satisfaction of vital basic needs.

This symbol combines, as it were, the implications represented in the two preceding ones. It relates to natural living the human capacity to prepare for the future and to use both physical strength and mental ingenuity. In meeting the hardships inherent in an existence close to nature, strength, efficiency and intelligence are needed, but they are incorporated in a life in which every act can be part of a harmonic and beautiful ritual permeated with deep significance.

This is the third in the sixty-sixth five-fold series of symbols. It refers to the efficient use of natural resources for insuring man’s well-being. Such a use is based on INTELLIGENT FORESIGHT.

Gienah is found in the Swan’s wing. Cygnus the Swan “Cygnus gives a contemplative, dreamy, cultured and adaptable nature. The affections are ill-regulated and unsteady, the talents develop late. There is some love of water and swimming and the arts.” The swan is yet another bird associated with Jupiter. This time it is actually one of his animal disguises. Jupiter took the form of a swan to seduce Leda, Queen of Sparta.Solar eclipse 2018 queen

On February 15th we have a New Moon and Solar Eclipse at 27° Aquarius. The eclipse is tightly conjunct Mercury and Juno, is square Jupiter and sextile Uranus. The ruler of the Eclipse, Saturn, is sextile Venus. Venus with Saturn, as well as theasteroid Juno are connected to the principle of devotion.

This is a South Node eclipse – South Node eclipses are about letting go. Both Lunar Nodes are about adjustments, and alignments – if North Node eclipses have a dose of mystery and unknown, South Node eclipses are more literal – the adjustments they require are more obvious. You may have been devoting all your life to a cause, to a dream, to an ideal (Aquarius). The eclipse will expose the current reality of that ideal. You may realize that you are devoted to a lost cause, or at least, your cause and the relationship you have with it needs to go through some changes.

To find out how the Eclipse is going to impact you, check which house of your natal chart Aquarius is in. If you have for example, Scorpio ascendant / Aquarius in the 4th house, you may realize that you have put too much energy and devotion into your family to the point of losing yourself. There are many people who stay in current jobs, relationships, friendships out of devotion, even if they are unhappy. The Solar Eclipse in Aquarius will challenge your relationship with the concept of devotion. Is it really worth it? Is your devotion unconditional or do you expect something in return? Venus sextile Saturn will give you the pragmatism to make the necessary changes.

Aspects

The Aquarian themes just mentioned are reemphasized by Uranus’ tight sextile to the Sun and Moon. The luminaries’ conjunctions to Venus, Juno and Mercury put a strong focus on relationships. Venus rules relationships, Juno stands for committed partnerships, and Mercury represents communication. All this suggests that you take an innovative approach so that you can communicate more effectively with those you’re close to.

How to Improve your intuitive Healing Abilities

healing abilities

Yes, you do have intuitive healing abilities. Everyone does! It’s just that most people haven’t learned to direct the power of their mind. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Change your attitude. A lot of your attitude – or outlook on life – flies below the radar, outside your awareness. It’s due to persistent negative beliefs. These are the same beliefs that caused the energy blockages in the first place! Notice any areas of struggle in your life: these clearly point to self-limiting beliefs you hold about yourself: for example, “I’m not good enough to be successful” or “Nobody can love someone like me.” You don’t even know these beliefs exist, yet they manifest in your life circumstances and in your health problems!
  2. Know your body. Not many of us are all that attuned to our bodies. Be aware of the physical feelings you have, every day – not just the big aches and pains, but the more subtle things like persistent but less annoying things you may have just gotten used to: dry skin, bloating, gas, fatigue, low libido, etc. These are signs from your body that something’s not right! The body does a great job of self-repair, when given a chance, but any persistent problem means the system is out of balance. Learn to sense your energy (“chi” or “prana”) by doing a systematic body scan (feet to top of head) where you visualize your chakras – each chakra corresponds to a different color – and hold your attention on each one until you sense its color and vitality. If a color seems weaker than the others, there’s a blockage.
  3. Listen to your intuition. Your inner guidance is always available to teach you and point you in the right direction. Its guidance sometimes goes counter to the intellect. You can open the doors to intuition by meditation or prayer. Your answers come in the form of hunches, visual images, sounds, gut feelings, memories or a ‘knowing’. These feelings can be strong or subtle. You may receive answers in your dreams. These can be tough to interpret because the symbols used by the mind are sometimes bizarre. Keep a dream journal and write down and interpret every dream you can remember – especially the recurring ones, which are essential to understand! The more you learn to listen to your intuition, the easier you will come to notice it and trust it.

4. Direct your energy. Focus your mental and emotional energy on healing. Visualize the body as completely healthy (not ‘being healed’ or ‘healing’ which is the process, not the end result). Also avoid giving thought to the existing condition because ‘what you think about, comes about’.Visualize the end result you want – perfect health in every aspect of the word!Use the visualization techniques described above to specifically direct the healing energy.

5. Allow. Allow the healing to work. Don’t second-guess, don’t doubt. Set your intention to heal, use visualization and emotional power of thoughts, and kick back and let your body do its thing!

Why Intuitive Healing Works

Intuitive healing works because of the mind-body connection. Interestingly, there is really no such ‘connection’ because that would imply that the mind and body are separate. They’re not! They are aspects of the same thing, just as you cannot separate a side of a piece of paper from the material it’s made of.

The potential far reaching effect that the Solar eclipse could have on so many people

Dane Rudhyar says ~ Pisces 29th degree is Light Breaking into Many Colors as it passes through a prism.

THE ANALYTICAL POWER OF THE MIND NECESSARY FOR THE FORMULATION OF LIFE PROCESSES IN THEIR MANY FORMS.

That was the exact degree that the SOLAR eclipse fell last Friday. March 20, 2015

A total solar eclipse occurred on March 20, 2015. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon’s apparent diameter is larger than the Sun’s, blocking all direct sunlight, turning day into darkness. Totality occurs in a narrow path across Earth’s surface, with the partial solar eclipse visible over a surrounding region thousands of kilometres wide.

It had a magnitude of 1.045. The longest duration of totality was 2 minutes and 47 seconds off the coast of the Faroe Islands. It is the last total solar eclipse visible in Europe until the eclipse of August 12, 2026.

The only populated places reachable by public land travel from which the totality could be seen were the Faroe Islands and Svalbard.

Impact

The European Union has a solar power output of about 90 gigawatts and production could have been temporarily decreased by up to 34 GW of that dependent on the clarity of the sky. In actuality the dip was less than expected, with a 13 GW drop in Germany happening due to overcast skies.[8] This was the first time that an eclipse had a significant impact on the power system, and the electricity sector took measures to mitigate the impact. Says Wikipedia. Anything with that much impact electrically I have been pondering must really therefore impact our personal astrology as well.

As it is with most of my chart since 2005 as I can recall this eclipse to has hit a significant point in my natal chart so in this instance I will use myself as the example of the impact.

So the foremost aspect that pops right out at me is the conjunction of the Sun and my natal Chiron at 29 degrees of Pisces in my 3rd house.

                          Predictive Astrology:

Our natal chart is very much like a snapshot of the sky at the moment we took our first breath. We carry our natal chart with us through the entire course of our lives, even though the planets and luminaries continue their movement and cycles. However, as the planets and points move ahead, they form special relationships to the planets and points in our individual natal charts.

So, for example, if my Sun in my natal chart is at 06 degrees Virgo, and Saturn is moving towards that same degree of Gemini (06 degrees of Gemini), Saturn is said to be transiting square my natal Sun. Similarly, if Saturn is in 06 degrees Gemini, I can look in my natal chart to see where Saturn would fall in terms of house position. If that degree of Gemini is found in my 3rd house, then I would know that Saturn is transiting through my 3rd house.

Transits act to stimulate what is already there! In other words, they highlight and trigger parts of our own psychological make-up.

Chiron Transits

How Chiron affects our lives depends very much on whether we resist its influences or we try to work with its energies

Chiron activates, by hard aspect, our “wounds”—areas where we feel weakened and unsuccessful-—and while it shines its light on these wounds, we may be inclined to blindly follow others’ advice or to get ourselves into subservient roles.
We tend to be looked upon favorably by others. We have the chance to shine, largely because we are projecting ourselves with self-respect and modesty at once.

Chiron Transits

You are especially appealing and charming during this transit just by being yourself.

But how does that translate to a SUPERMOON ECLIPSE?

New Moon in Aquarius

I am talking about significant aspects, degree symbols, and other important factors in this month’s Aquarius New Moon chart which will throw us hearing a call to a life renewal and stir up broader horizons. We’ll continue to structure new magnetism and new long term patterns of growth through unique gifts turning defeats into victory. Keep shedding old “skins of personality” to come out tougher, clearer, and more focused.

This Lunation, along with the inner planets, continues sign concentrations within the usual “anchoring” span occupied by slow moving planets. This slow, steady pulse runs from Saturn in Scorpio through Pluto in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces to Uranus in Aries. In this New Moon, there is a huge cluster of planets in Aquarius and Pisces, showing that area of our charts will be fairly intense and active for the next few weeks.

In a curious occurrence, the “Bucket” Jones Pattern effectively has two “nozzles” at present. Jupiter in Gemini has been a primary nozzle for quite some time, since it’s been outside the occupied span. However, due to where Saturn is right now, it also serves as an “alternative focus” for the rest of the energies.

ChartPatterns

They are each fairly far away (a sextile, or 60 degrees) from their nearest neighbors, indicating they operate as “independent agents,” so to speak. Saturn at the beginning of the span, as well as Jupiter at the end of the span, each and both serve to focus energy.

Saturn is the nozzle for, and focuses Capricorn through Gemini; Jupiter is the nozzle for, and focuses Scorpio through Aries. Students of the craft should take note, since each are equally in play, but involving very different energies focused through very different signs.

So What is a “Bucket Pattern” and how does it work?

This type of spread, with all the planets in about half the signs with one outside that span wide enough to be a handle, creates a “Bucket” Jones Pattern. The energies of the occupied half are focused through the “handle,” or “nozzle,” in this case Jupiter and Saturn are termed “focal determinator,” and represents the way to greater effectiveness, the cause to be embraced, the lack to be filled, or the way to use the total energies of this time in a focused manner.

Based on where Jupiter is relative to the other planets shows the pattern to be more impulsive, and “inclined to respond to an immediate rather than future promise.” Those who are focusing Saturn will be more cautious, and focused on end results.

Dr. Jones states “the bucket type indicates a particular and rather uncompromising direction in the life effort.” This pattern gives “interest in a cause,” with executive tendencies that will adapt allegiances to maximize results of the effort. He says “the bucket type at its best reveals the real instructor and inspirer of others, and at its worst the agitator and malcontent.” This is the larger planetary pattern within which we’re all trying to do what we do.

We are also told this pattern is more about finding an effective release for energy within social settings, but also about the self imposing its pattern on society rather than adapting to what is there. It’s about focused intention. So all of us can expect some sort of focused attention on the houses where we have early Gemini and early Scorpio.

Of the traditional 10 planets, there are 4 in Water, 4 in Air, 1 planets in Earth, and 1 in Fire. That shows a heavy emphasis on feelings, relationships, interactions and communications, with very little on getting things done, being efficient and practical, and organizing things so they are in our “enlightened self-interest.” The deficiency of Earth and Fire shows very little inspiration and warmth, so it’s really a very changeable time where feelings will run high at the end of the year cycle.

That means we’ll have to continue to be inspired via our own uniqueness and the ongoing revolution in self-awareness that we’re all going through during this time of Uranus in Aries, and find practicality in seeing to the core of things and “refining wilderness” in our inner and outer affairs. As Venus leads this Lunation, it makes the area in our charts where we have mid-Aquarius of extra importance, and indicates a time to go within, find inspiration in a new discovery of a greater contribution, and find those who share that feeling-vision.

Air and Earth are cool, Fire and Water are hot. With so many planets in , so with more planets in Water and Air, it will be a time when both emotions and ideas run high. It could bring great interactions, ideas, and plans where everyone feels connected on deep and vast levels. This is a time to recognize what you feel, and move that idea into experience with others.

So wherever we have Scorpio, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, and Aries is going to be highly active, due to the presence of 8 planets in that 144 degree span. The 27 ½ degree span between Venus at 11 Aquarius and Mercury at 8 Pisces with Chiron at 9 Pisces is particularly active. If you have a planet anywhere in that area of the zodiac, you’re going to go through major changes in the part of your psyche represented by the planet and the part of your external affairs symbolized by the house it’s in.

The general theme is that through our willingness to take a higher road or a higher view, while feeling more deeply and compassionately and “hearing the call to a life renewal,” we will find ourselves operating on multiple levels of life simultaneously. This will allow us to find fulfillment and self-reliance in doing whatever we must to reach a higher level of social functioning. Ultimately, over the next few weeks we can grow safely and happily with others in secure life conditions, so be grateful for the opportunities to expand into interactions that help us leave past disappointments behind.

Continuing the metaphor, Saturn in Scorpio is like bone regeneration, or the elimination of all in our skin and bones that would block our humanitarian instincts, whether toward ourselves or others. We’ve already turned the corner, and many have already done the hard elimination or reconstruction work that position indicates we’re all going though in our own ways and times.

On a final note about Jones Patterns, Saturn will be leading the occupied span for many months to come since it’s a long time until the inner planets are in Leo, Virgo, or Libra. Along with Jupiter, it will be a focus for the energies set off by the other transits through the Spring. However, by May-June, the larger pattern will alternate between Bucket and Locomotive, but once Jupiter and Saturn are in trine, a lot of what we’ve been dealing with that seems unfocused and spread out will stabilize.

Important Aspects

Remember that in reading a Lunation chart (as well as a horary, inceptional, electional, or any event chart) the forming aspects show things to come, while separating aspects show things already past. This New Moon makes only two forming aspects, while the other planets make several important productive and stabilizing forming aspects.

The only forming aspects the Lunation makes are the wide semisquare to Pluto, and the close biseptile to Jupiter. The semisquare shows an “inner crisis of emergence,” in this case meaning we get to move into unknown zones of practical effectiveness while leaving disappointment behind.

The biseptile will put our sense of expansion and future opportunity at a point where some things are going to come forth in public ways, some spectacularly, some showing the end harvest of what we began last May, June, and July. This sets up current and future “forks in the road of destiny” wherever we have late Aquarius and early Gemini, affecting those houses in our charts, as well as wherever we have Cancer, Leo, Sagittarius, and Pisces on the house cusp.

Those with planets or sensitive points in their charts in any of the seven zones triggered by this aspect will be most affected. Expect major shifts in direction, understanding, and vision if you have a planet around 20-24 Aquarius, 12-16 Aries, 4-8 Gemini, 25-29 Cancer, 16-20 Virgo, 7-11 Scorpio, 29 Sagittarius-3 Capricorn.

This will begin movement on something we’ve been promised since June or July 2012. Though something dramatic may or may not show itself these next 4 weeks, there will be a new tide in movement that will lead many to combine faith and works to find the sustenance they need.

Besides the major aspects mentioned earlier, other forming aspects include Mercury and Mars both trine Saturn and sextile Pluto, Venus conjunct the Sun and square Saturn, Mars in a strong square to Jupite, Jupiter triseptile Saturn, Saturn biquintile Uranus and sextile Pluto discussed in an early article, and now that Uranus is again direct in motion, we’re back to a forming Uranus square Pluto!

As noted last month and in this series, Jupiter triseptile Saturn is setting up some “fork in the road of destiny” events for many of us!

This also happens to increase Jupiter’s influence in this Lunation, since Saturn is in a very powerful triseptile to Jupiter, adding another layer of irrational, “fork in the road of destiny” energy to the next 4 weeks. Last month Jupiter was the focus of the very powerful Yod, or “Finger of God” I wrote about extensively at the time.

That squeezed a lot out of our lives so we could refocus on whatever Jupiter in Gemini indicates in our charts. Those sacrifices that helped us expand in some way have now led us to a major turning point in the Sag, Aquarius, Aquarius, and Pisces areas of our lives via the house affairs where we have Gemini and Scorpio.

The separating aspects show reality already experienced, or things already set into motion. Aspects of note are the Lunation semisquare Uranus, Mercury conjunct Mars, square Jupiter, and conjunct Neptune, Venus trine Jupiter and sextile Uranus, Mars conjunct Neptune, and Jupiter sextile Uranus and square Neptune. Taken together it shows we’ve come out of recent depth realizations while feeling submerged, waiting to act. Overall it’s been a productive period, with productivity despite unexpected revelations.

The Sabian Symbols for the New Moon

A New Moon sets the seed forms for what the following 4 weeks will demonstrate. This Lunation falls at 22 Aquarius. While I’ve given you a sense of this degree up to now, this is where we go into depth.

The symbol is “A rug placed on a floor for children to play.”

According to Rudhyar’s notes from the Marc Jones class, this degree is one of

“Life’s warmth and richness given to those who eagerly learn to live,”

“Luxurious self-knowing, or self-appreciation,” and “Comfort.”

In the Astrological Mandala, he says this degree involves

“the warmth of understanding which comes to those who, early in life, are open to new possibilities.”

He states this degree shows us how we’re

“left without assistance when eagerly seeking to grow emotionally and spiritually”

so we can

“realize the intent and value of what sustains (our) self-development and cushions the shocks which life provides (our) growth in understanding.”

He continues that this symbol

“contrasts the kindness inherent in … life situations with the tragic feeling of disillusionment”

preceding this symbol. He states

“through a warm appreciation of basic opportunities and even small comforts, we can safely and happily grow into personal maturity.”

He says it falls in the span of Perspective, and it’s the second degree of the emotional-cultural level of the scene of Management in the Act of Capitalization. So for this month we’re being taught how to appreciate our comforts as we grow into a more secure growth pattern, and many may find much to appreciate about their path, their skills, and their self-knowing,.

According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, the degree is one of

“the unlimited service of life at large to the special requirements of an individual’s comfort or everyday convenience.”

This is about our ability to find what we need for self-development, where we are “ever discovering (ourselves) in situations where (we) may concentrate (our) efforts to the best possible advantage on the perfection and employment of (our) personal skills.”

He offers us the keyword of REFINEMENT. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is

“unusual capacity for the exploitation of immediate resources and the deepening of every potential of selfhood.”

So we enter a time of feeling appreciation and gratitude for how we’ve been protected and sometimes even made comfortable during our times of growth out of disappointment and discouragement. Here we see how we’ve been given the exact circumstances we needed to grow out of unhelpful feelings and interpersonal disappointments. We may now find ourselves in situations where we can concentrate on refining and using our personal skills to develop what we need and deepen our potential.

Other Influences

Pluto, the Cosmic Purifier, will be in Capricorn for many years. It continues to teach us deep lessons about practical, organized economy of energy and efficiency in sprouting seed forms of the new “laws of our lives” we can relax into. 2012 was mainly about being organized in finding and demonstrating ways to get beyond fear and radiate harmlessness and mature fellowship with Nature, whether your own, another’s, or Nature Herself.

The next 4 weeks continues to be a time to open to new ways of viewing how to claim our divine power and express it creatively and without fear as we refine the coarse into the elegant, the wilderness into gardens. Here our Divine Power works to bring out the latent richness in ourselves, others, and circumstances, where we may “capitalize on opportunity” productively to create thought forms that will take form beginning mid-March.

Having found what we’ve been looking for and opened to new ways of doing our Being, we can be more natural in our search for deeper insights into meaning and processes as we reach out to new and more complex vistas of potential interactions.

The Gemini Solar Eclipse of 2012 was also important in continuing the process of letting go of the ghosts of the past, along with opening us to newer, deeper insights even as it shut down even more of the Gemini areas of our lives.

In practicing our unique individuality we can become the answer to some collective need, whether large or small. This is the time to do, learn, or communicate something that arises through a recognition of some need of the inner Self. Expect some interesting things to assert themselves!

So this begins the remainder of our Jupiter in Gemini adventure that lasts through June. The stationary direct degree shows us the platform underneath all that we reach out toward during the next year.

The degree is “An old fashioned well,” and we are told it’s a degree of “personal self-renewal and simple organic integrity.”

It’s where we take in and give out the substance of who we are, and are compensated for our efforts. It promises self-reliance and “uncompromising faithfulness,” inner assurance, poise, and holds the promise that if we can sense what is hidden that will nourish us, and then do the simple effort to bring it up to the surface of our lives, then we will find “a fundamental trust in and cooperation with life.”

We’re shifting the pattern of Feeling-Thinking-Deciding with this New Moon. The past two have shown that specific pattern of leading with feelings, then finding ideas and information, and then making decisions. This New Moon shows that over the next 4 weeks we lead with feelings, but then must make decisions and act. Then we need to go find ideas, information, and new visions that can help us update our perceptual files.

So feel what must be felt, experience what must be experienced (even if it seems that the past is still more powerful than we’d like!) and just do it! Look at the simple necessity and then act on that. Then go get the information you need to get clear about what must be done and how, and find a new way of understanding or viewing where you want that act to take you. After seeing or understanding it differently, then go back to your feelings, and let them move you into the next decision and/or action. Then get more information, communicate what must be communicated until you get a clear vision, and that will in turn lead to new feelings and experiences.

Due to the powerful septiles at work involving Moon, Sun, Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus, it’s safe to say this Lunation will set destiny into motion wherever we have Aries, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces in our charts. That’s 2/3 of our existence that will hit a fork in the road in some way.

We’ve now moved into unknown Pluto zones, can experience the “indestructible” parts of our Higher Self, and know what it’s like to express our unique qualities in multiple realms simultaneously. Play to your expansive ideas, finish the next phase of overcoming fear, and move out of difficult relationships and into highly productive and stabilizing ways of coordinating your life.

Over the past two months, we’ve been given techniques to shortcut our process of evolution in some way. First through Mars, and then through Venus, the last two New Moons showed us ways to get a vision, find a plan, and execute it in the right time, and quicken our evolution in significant ways. Now we get to take it up and out in some way through finding a new inspiration in silent moments so we can hear a call to renewal. Eliminate all that doesn’t serve your highest social and cultural expression, and be versatile as you learn to navigate the flow of the many tides at work in this time of Pisces.

Besides the 2011 Gemini Solar Eclipse that triggered the Grand Irrationality for years after, we’ve also had a couple of other Solar Eclipses since then that continue to affect all of us.

PHOLUS – 22 Aquarius

pholus2

22 Aquarius rides high in the heavens this week. Bringing much commotion. I of course have a planet/asteroid/configuration completely conjunct it. As it has been for the last 4 to 5 years with an increasing frequency  as to the why as of yet it has not bee revealed to me.

I have Pholus at 22 Aquarius in my second house. This is what I do know about Pholus…

The outer extremes of Pholus’ path cross the orbits of both Saturn and Neptune. Just as Chiron is considered an astrological key to Saturn and Uranus, so Pholus is a key to Neptune. His average distance from the Sun is a little greater than that of Uranus, a complete revolution takes 92 years. In myth, Pholus guards the centaurs’ vines, the wine from these being the actual cause for the battle between Hercules and the Centaurs. Like Chiron, Pholus becomes embroiled in the battle by chance, and dies due to a tragic coincidence – while curiously inspecting one of Hercules’ poisoned arrows, he is mortally wounded.

According to first astrological observations, Pholus gives unusual ability in a particular area, or unexpected results, due to a gift for experiment. Pholus’ transits over the main axes of a chart, often mark radical and unexpected change, hinted at by his sudden and unexpected death in the myth.

There are a number of Neptunian overtones to this story. The wine, for example. Pholus’ self-sacrifice, in one version. Pholus stepping outside of the safe and secure to investigate the unknown mystery of the arrow. Perhaps these relate to the fact that Pholus orbits between Saturn and Neptune….and links them up in much the same way that Chiron links Saturn and Uranus.

We haven’t had very long to study Pholus, so not much of his astrological nature has been verified. But there does seem to be an element of selflessness in his actions…of involving the self in something to the point of losing the self in the process. Much more study is needed, though.

In the myth Chiron and Pholus are closely related: they are considered as the only reasonable and wise Centaurs, and they are said to be philanthropic. Both are friends of Hercules´, and both inadvertently die by his poisonous arrows, while he gets entangled in a conflict with the other Centaurs. The main version of this myth is as follows: On his way to the Erymanthian mountains, where he has been sent to catch the notorious wild boar, Hercules passes by the cave of the wise Centaur Pholus and is invited for a meal. Pholus was known as the keeper of the wine of the Centaurs, a gift of the wine god Dionysos. Against Pholus´ scruples, Hercules insists on opening the jug. The smell of the godly potion immediately attracts the other centaurs and puts them into fury. They charge with torn out rocks and trees to plunder the jug. But Hercules repells them. He pursues them with his arrows poisoned by the blood of the Hydra and kills them in large quantities. Hence they take refuge with the immortal Chiron, the great master of martial and healing arts, and gather around him to find to find shelter. But Hercules is blind of pugnacity keeps on shooting. Unfortunately, one of his arrows beats through a Centaur´s arm and is stuck in Chiron´s knee. The other Centaurs flee into all directions, while Hercules, under self-accusations, hastens to Chiron and tries to help him. But the poison of the Hydra leaves an incurable wound. It agonizes the immortal Centaur so much that he longs for death. Finally, by virtue of a deal with Zeus and Prometheus, he can die after a long time of suffering. Pholus, who has not been involved in the battle but simply witnessed it, dies by an unfortunate accident, as well. He wonders whether such tiny arrows can kill so huge Centaurs immediately. He steps to a corpse and pulls the projectile out to study it. Unfortunately, it slips from his fingers, gets stuck in his foot and kills him immediately.

It is the destiny of both Centaurs – and of many other Centaurs, as well – that they are done to death by the poisonous arrows of Hercules. This sheds light on their astrological significance. All other planetary gods are immortal, the Centaurs are not. The specific theme of the Centaurs is, therefore, death, the transformation – the ending of an old life and the beginning of a new and higher life. The Centaur himself can be understood as a symbol for the hybrid position of human beings between the animal kingdom and the godhead, or between animal impulse and reason. The death of a Centaur then means the release of this tension, the transformation of what is subconscious and impulsive into understanding and consciousness. Hercules is the hero who does the Centaurs to death, half intentionally and half unintentionally. He symbolizes the individuality that strives for consciousness.

When a person is under the influence of a Centaur planet, he or she has to go through a transformation. This is connected with an insight. In the language of mythology or of the dreams both death and cognition are the same. Different Centaur planets give rise to this process in different ways. Of chiron we know that he finds it hard to die, – i.e. to understand, or to quit an old attitude towards life and find a new one. He cannot let go and die but keeps stuck in incurable suffering. This can be seen not only from the myth but from his planetary orbit as well: the extremes of Chiron´s ellipse quite exactly touch the orbits of Saturn and Uranus. His mean solar distance is located about in the middle of these two planets. This shows us, that Chiron can neither easily remain in the old disposition (Saturn) nor be released without more ado, i.e. enter into a transforming cognition (Uranus). If there is a release, it is only after long suffering.

Pholus, on the other hand, swings between Saturn and Neptune, and his average solar distance lies near Uranus. He dies all at once, without lengthy processes, and relatively painless. Afterwards, his situation is completely different. Either he has attained to a new prospect, or he finds himself in a catastrophy. For 1993HA2, the “Pluto key”, death comes more violent. He is hit by an unforeseen “death-blow” into the heart, which is accompanied by passionate pain and leaves bitterness and vengefulness behind.

Experiences with natal positions of Pholus

Whatever happens, afterwards the person is altered.

More details on the interpretation of Pholus can be found – for those who read German – in our book on Pholus. (s. Bibliography)

Experiences with transits of Pholus

It goes without saying that, besides the study of mythology, astronomy and the effects of Pholus in natal charts, his qualities in transits had to be investigated, too. A new planet must cause distinct experiences when transiting, for example, the natal sun or the ascendent. This is especially true if it belongs to the slow-moving ones and the transit lasts for several months or even years (in case of delay by one or several retrogradations).

Therefore we decided to place Pholus on this kind of probation, too: we collected detailed experience reports of volunteers for all important Pholus transits during their hitherto life. Thereby, we took into account conjunctions, squares and oppositions of transiting Pholus with respect to natal main axes, main planets, Chiron, Pholus himself and the lunar nodes, as well as passages through the Placidian houses. The maximal orb we used was 2°. We listed the periods of pholic influences in their varying lengths in form of a table beginning with the birth and ending at the present time and presented them to the participants. To avoid the danger of influencing them, we gave no hints on the kind of transit or the factors involved. So they groped in the dark, as it were. Only after they had returned us their written experience reports, we commented on their respective transit theme in a personal talk and searched after deeper meanings.

To our surprise, the most transits of Pholus in the lifes of our informants had been accompanied by subjectively important and impressing events and developments. The only exception seemed to be the transits of Pholus over the lunar nodes: people were seldom able to report something. But apart from that, in almost all cases, especially at conjunctions, the participants used to mention distinctly noticeable changes and developments, be it during a house passage or a planetary transit, though they did not know at all what transit was in question. Of course, we investigated whether there were other transits involved, but this turned out to be true only seldom.

While evaluating the reports we could with time sift out the following typical transit qualities of Pholus that used to show up in the lifes of the participants both in disagreeable and agreeable variations:

  • Pholus intensifies the natal factor affected by him in a way that we are impelled to unusual and often thoughtless actions in the domain in question. Frequently one feels a kind of “goaded on” and under a hardly sustainable permanent strain.

  • An underdeveloped facet of the affected part of our personality suddenly appears. On the one hand, this often gives us a spontaneous insight into our deficiencies in the domain concerned. On the other hand, it drives us even more towards a change.

  • The participants often felt a wish of riddance.

  • Pholus seems to launch us again and again into unexpected frontier situations, where we feel demanded too much and eventually exceed the bounds of our possibilities.

After all we found that almost all Pholus transits mark more or less important turning-points in life. People often leave behind old things relatively fast and spontaneously, open themselves to unknown new things and therewith grow out of their old self. The way in which this happens with Pholus transits distinctly differs from those of the known planets, as sketched above. So, Pholus is indeed clearly perceptible in transits, and according to our experiences his astrological power is by all means equal to other main planets´ transits. For instance, we recommend to look at the transition of Pholus over the rising or setting points. At those times there was an important turning-point in the lifes of most of the participants of our transit research, though nothing of such kind had been indicated by transits of other main planets. Experiences of similar importance were undergone at passage times of Pholus over MC and IC. (see Note)

The full significance of Pholus can perhaps be imagined best by means of its transit qualities, whereby it is clear that we have discovered only the “top of the iceberg”. Who knows, what else will be brought to light about Pholus? An other interesting matter of research would be, for example, its generations effects that are connected with its extreme speed variations and its extraordinarily variable residence times within the different signs of the zodiac. For instance, when at perihelion, Pholus passes cancer or leo within only two years. On the other hand, when at aphelion in capricorn or aquarius, it takes him 23 years to cross a sign (figure 4), i.e. more than ten times longer! Depending on the generation one belongs to, one will experience the opposition in the cycle of Pholus between the 13th and the 76th year of life (figure 5). So there is a Pholus generation that has Pholus passed through half of the house circle by the age of 13. Imagine the same thing for Uranus! What is the meaning of such extreme variations in frequency and speed of transits for the different generations?

Well, the qualities of Pholus are so extraordinary, that there are still a lot of further questions. With this book on Pholus it shows not only that Pholus is an important new astrological factor but also set a reliable corner-stone for the furthermore investigation of this particular Centaur.

Issues of Greek Mythology

There may be something to be gleaned from the Pholus discovery chart, as well. Pholus was 0 Leo 36 R in the 9th, in close quincunx to Mercury (29 Sagittarius 01), Mars (29 Sagittarius 59) and Ceres (0 Capricorn 56) in the 2nd. The quincunx IS an aspect of adjustment, and can be one of sacrifice, even of death & transformation.

Psychic Access Talk Radio – Psychic Viewpoint

Next Show in: 05 Days, 20 Hours, 56 Minutes, 58 Seconds.

Show Date: Thursday February 7th, 2013

Don’t miss this week’s show, anchored by Steve Frampton, themed “Astrology and The Collective Consciousness” with special guest Jessica Murray, astrologer, writer and cultural commentator.

Astrologer, writer and cultural commentator Jessica Murray brings to light the spiritual underpinnings that shape both the personal and collective experience of our time. In her private practice, Jessica draws from her knowledge of many metaphysical traditions to provide her clients with a sense of the big picture. Her readers and students are given an understanding of how they might respond, rather than merely react, to these turbulent times. Jessica trained as a fine artist before graduating in 1973 from Brown University, where she studied Jungian psychology and linguistics. After a few years in a political theatre troupe, Jessica began a study of the symbolic language of archetypes, and has been practicing and teaching astrology in San Francisco for thirty-five years. For more information about Jessica, please visit her website at http://MotherSky.com/.

Astrology and geopolitics may seem strange bedfellows, but Jessica Murray puts the two together in a masterful hybrid to provide a perspective as extraordinary as the times we are living in. Using the principles of ancient wisdom to make sense of the current global situation, Jessica invites us to consider critical contemporary issues with a perspective that reaches far beyond partisanship and provincialism, piercing through the confusion and labeling that keeps so much of America’s cultural discourse unimaginative and unhelpful. Jessica offers an in-depth analysis of America’s essential destiny — uncovering the greater purpose motivating this group soul.

With a rare blend of compassion, humor and fearless taboo-busting, Jessica will explain how this greater purpose has been distorted, and how it can be re-embraced in the decades to come. She decodes current astrological transits that express the key themes we must learn in this period of millennial crisis — including that of the responsibility of power — spelling out the profound lessons the nation will face in the next few years. She sheds new light on troubling issues that the pundits and culture wars inflame but leave painfully unresolved: the WTC bombings, the violence in the Middle East, media propaganda, globalization, consumerism and the American Dream.

In her interpretation of the birth chart of the entity born July 4, 1776, Jessica reveals America’s noble potential without sentiment and diagnoses its neuroses without delusion. Combining the rigor of a political theorist with the vision of a master astrologer, she explains how each of us can come to terms with this moment in history and arrive at a response that is unique and creative. This show will leave you revitalized, shorn of illusions and full of hope.
